I’m on Facebook right, and everyone is either studying their asses off or already home for winter break and posting photos of family and all that shit.
And I know some of these people don’t have a choice to stay in town (especially if they’re in dorms or waddevah) but I’m wondering if I’m unique for wanting to stay in town. I’ve finished all my classes and I have only one more exam left but I’m staying here in RVA for like a week more.
True, my apartment is open all throughout break and I’m not forced to leave, but I want to spend this week off enjoying my campus and RVA and my friends while NOT having to worry about school work. I think its healthy to do that- to get to love the place I’m temporary living.
I guess its just that (as usual) I don’t understand why people want to go home so soon. I know some people really love home and are happier there, but I’m hooked on independence. I say this all the damn time, but I love being independent. I make my own choices, and then when I mess up or do something great, I learn from it. I don’t always need my parents around to tell me what I should and shouldn’t do. I think thats a big part about learning how to grow up. Self experience.
So anyway, tomorrow I’m going grocery shopping and then Im studying for my final exam and then I’m walking a mile and a half downtown to see some Christmas lights with my friend so home is going to wait for a little.
